Our chickens are not just free-range but actually out to pasture 365 days of the year.
They roam freely for the summer months whilst remaining enclosed in large mobile enclosures during the winter months. This not only makes them easier to manage when the land becomes wet but also allows us to manage the land better in moving them to parts of the land that need rotovating ready for the planting season. Yes! Chickens dont only lay eggs but can also turn over soil for you. The enclosures also protect them from predators as the days becomes shorter, whilst allowing them to be moved to fresh pasture on a weekly basis. Their natural, pastoral diet of insects and bugs is only supplemented with the highest quality soy-free feed available.
We keep a variety of breeds of laying chickens including Rhode Island Red, Appenzeller Spitzhauben, Hybrids and Araucana Chickens who lay the most beautiful pale blue egg.
